APPLICATION
According to The American Society for Quality (ASQ), "Six Sigma is a method that provides organizations tools to improve the capability of their business processes. This increase in performance and decrease in process variation helps lead to defect reduction and improvement in profits, employee morale and quality of products or services."
There are two main methods to the Six Sigma approach: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) and Define, Measure, Analyze, Design and Verify (DMADV).
Utilize DMADV to:
Define customer demands, as well as your goals and KPIs for the process and product
Measure performance against customer demands
Analyze and determine the strategy for the process and product
Design and employ the processes required for the new process or product
Verify outcomes and adjust performance
Utilize DMAIC to:
Define the problem and strategize the improvement process
Measure the data you collected from the process and establish the state of quality
Analyze the data you collected to get to the bottom of the problem
Implement and finalize the improvement action plan
Control the improvement action plan
